1140 steel is a manganese medium-carbon steel characterized by its improved machinability and strength. It contains approximately 0.43–0.50% carbon, 0.60–0.90% manganese, with minor proportions of sulfur and phosphorus. This makes it produce excellent tensile strength of approximately 620 MPa and yield strength of approximately 415 MPa.
