Aluminium 6082 Bars and Rods consist of 95.9–98.5% aluminium, 0.7–1.3% silicon, 0.7–1.3% magnesium, 0.1% copper, 0.5% manganese, and 0.25% chromium, the balance consisting of trace elements. These bars have a tensile strength of 310–410 MPa, yield strength of approximately 275 MPa, and elongation of 8–12%. The Brinell hardness is generally in the 70 to 100 HB range. This alloy is particularly suited for structural uses because of its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, good machinability, resistance to corrosion, and weldability and fabricatability, which makes it a widely applied material in all industries.
