Duplex Steel S32205 is a nitrogen-improved duplex stainless steel that contains about 22% chromium, 5–6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and 0.17% nitrogen. This alloy combines the properties of austenitic and ferritic steel, providing high mechanical strength (minimum yield strength of 450 MPa) and superior corrosion resistance, especially in chloride-rich environments. It provides superior pitting resistance, crevice corrosion resistance, and stress corrosion cracking resistance. Due to its weldability and high fatigue strength, S32205 is durable and affordable and thus a choice material for demanding industrial use where reliability over long periods is required.
