Hyderabad-based Dhruv Metals is a renowned producer and supplier of high-grade metal products for precision engineering purposes. It is famous for its quality and reliability and deals exclusively in high-performance materials such as High-Speed Steel (HSS) M2 Bars. These bars are known for being extremely hard, abrasion-resistant, and capable of maintaining high temperatures, which makes them best suited for cutting tool industries, industrial applications, and precision manufacturing businesses. Offering high customer satisfaction and technical competency, Dhruv Metals has gained a reliable place in the metal business as a value supplier for its critical applications.
HSS M2 Bars consist of 0.85–1.0% Carbon, 4.0–5.0% Molybdenum, 3.75–4.5% Tungsten, 1.0–1.4% Chromium, and 0.3–0.9% Vanadium, with the presence of traces of Cobalt and Silicon. The balanced alloy contains high hardness up to 65 HRC after heat treatment, along with the best wear resistance and toughness at high temperatures. Tungsten and molybdenum combination provides hardness retention, whereas vanadium provides abrasion resistance. These properties render M2 steel extremely resistant to wear, even under sustained thermal stress, and eminently suitable for high-demand tool operations.

Yes, High-Speed Steel M2 can be welded, but it requires careful heat control. Preheating, welding with proper filler material, and post-weld heat treatment are necessary to avoid cracking and preserve hardness.
High-Speed Steel M2 bars are not ideal for high-temperature applications, as they can lose hardness and wear resistance above 540°C, limiting their performance in extreme heat conditions.
High-Speed Steel M2 bars should be stored in a dry, cool environment to prevent corrosion. They should be kept off the ground, ideally on wooden or metal racks, and away from moisture or chemicals.
High-Speed Steel M2 Bars find widespread application in making precision cutting instruments like reamers, milling cutters, drill bits, saw blades, and taps. Owing to their thermal shock resistance and strength, they are also used in lathe tool bits, grinding tools, and die work like stamping, punching, and forming. M2 steel is a popular material for high-speed machining and tooling use where edge durability, longevity, and heat resistance are paramount. M2 bars are used by industries such as aerospace, automobile, metal working, and general engineering for high-performance, long-lasting tools that function under severe conditions.
