Iron and chromium (11.5–13.5%) make up the majority of stainless steel 410 flat bars, with trace amounts of carbon (0.08–0.15%), manganese, silicon, and sulphur. After heat treatment, this grade of martensitic stainless steel offers exceptional mechanical strength and hardness. It provides elongation of about 20%, yield strength of about 275 MPa, and tensile strength between 450 and 750 MPa. SS 410 can be hardened by quenching and tempering, and it has good wear resistance. It works well in dry to mildly corrosive environments and high-stress mechanical applications, despite having less corrosion resistance than austenitic grades.
