This unique composition allows 440C to reach an impressive hardness after heat treatment—up to 58–60 HRC. It also boasts a tensile strength of 760–1970 MPa, a yield strength of about 450 MPa, and moderate corrosion resistance. With its excellent hardness, wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance, 440C stands out as one of the hardest stainless steels available in bar form.
