Chromium (23–27%) and iron (balance) make up the majority of stainless steel 446 flat bars, with trace amounts of manganese, silicon, sulphur, and phosphorus, as well as very little carbon. At temperatures as high as 1100°C, its high chromium content provides exceptional resistance to oxidation and scaling. It has a mechanical tensile strength of about 485 MPa, a yield strength of about 275 MPa, and an elongation of about 20%.
